Shallow EnviroKerb
The recycled composite kerb drain solution
Envirokerb Shallow is a more compact version of our best selling Envirokerb combined kerb drainage system. The shallower depth makes it ideal for linear drainage in projects where construction depths are limited. It can provide continuity with Envirokerb drainage systems from carriageways over structures. It can also be used for roads and bridges where low flows are anticipated.
For bridge installations where the kerb is installed at the deck level, the unit incorporates a series of sub-surface slots to drain water from within the asphalt layer.
Envirokerb Shallow shares the multiple benefits common to all of the products in our Enviro-range, which have become recognised as the lightest, strongest and greenest drainage solutions on the market.
Lighter. Stronger. Faster to install. Safer. And Greener
Features and Benefits
Lightweight
Envirokerb Shallow is made from fully recycled plastic. All the Envirokerb components have been designed to fall well within the 25kg limit for manual handling, with standard 210mm deep units weighing under 10kg! The reduced weight eliminates the need for on-site machinery for installation. Evidence from contractors suggests this reduces installation times dramatically.
Health and Safety
The lighter weight of Envirokerb Shallow means fewer workplace injuries - and subsequently fewer lost workdays or costly compensation claims.
There are none of the risks normally associated with cutting concrete, which releases huge amounts of dust containing harmful particles.
One Piece Design
The innovative one-piece design of Envirokerb Shallow eliminates the need for the secondary operation of jointing two components, as required with some existing systems. This reduces the kerb's vulnerability to on-site breakage. Envirokerb Shallow is fully compatible with the Envirokerb combined kerb drainage system, ensuring continuity between the carriageway and bridge drainage.
Precision Manufactured
Envirokerb Shallow is manufactured to a high aesthetic finish, making it almost indistinguishable from concrete units, for continuity with existing materials.
Envirokerb Shallow is manufactured in depths of 165, 190 and 210mm and in a range of widths. The unit is available in half-battered or 45 degree splayed styles to meet project requirements. The Envirokerb Shallow system is complemented by a full range of additional components including end units, outlet units, expansion joint assemblies and inspection units.
Hydraulic Efficiency
Due to the nature of Envirokerb Shallow's unique composite material, hydraulic performance is improved over traditional materials.
Durability
Envirokerb Shallow is tested to Group D400 loading class and exceeds the strength required for kerbside systems under European law (Group C250)
The unit is highly resistant to side impact, the main cause of failure in many kerbside type installations. Independent tests show that the recycled plastic material is up to 30 times stronger than equivalent concrete products, making it almost unbreakable during on-site handling and installation. In fact we're so confident of the unit's durability, Envirokerb Shallow combined kerb drainage comes with a guarantee against breakage.
The composite material is fully resistant to all types of chemicals in petrol, diesel and oil, and is not affected by road salts.
Quality Assurance
Envirokerb Shallow is fully compliant to the European EN1433 specification for drainage channels with vehicular and pedestrian access. The product bears the CE mark of quality. PDS have full ISO9001 Accreditation (Management Systems). In addition and essential for full compliance to the EN1433 standard, our manufacturing facilities have full ISO 9000 series Accreditation and Quality Assurance. The Envirokerb range and PDS are now compliant to ISO14001.
Green Benefits
Envirokerb Shallow is made entirely from recycled materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill within the UK and China. But the environmental benefits don't end there - Envirokerb helps your company reduce its carbon footprint throughout its lifetime in use.
Other combined kerb drainage systems manufactured in traditional materials rely heavily on natural resources. These products are also heavy, requiring more traffic to and from site.
The environmental benefits of Envirokerb Shallow continue right through its lifetime in use. If no longer required on site, the kerb can be reused elsewhere, or recycled - unlike traditional products.
