Kerb Drainage
Kerb Drainage is an increasingly common solution for drainage on roads, motorways, retail developments and urban environments across the UK. The concept is surprisingly simple - rather than a separate drainage gully running alongside a solid kerb, the two are integrated. Surface water is drained away from the road edge through a series of slots into a hollow kerb which houses a hydraulically efficient drainage channel. New technologies mean that these kerbs are stronger and lighter than traditional concrete products.
The system has immediate and striking benefits over more traditional kerb and gully drainage. The overall design is much simpler, reducing the amount of components to be procured and installed. Because there's no need to lay separate kerbs, gully, grating and pipework, the time to install the drainage system is dramatically reduced. The kerbs can be supplied either flat to suit on-site gradients or with a stepped fall.
Because of these advantages kerb drainage is now recognised in the UK as a more efficient system and is a common sight on new developments.
The lightweight technology and one-piece design of our Envirokerb range makes this the optimum system for combined kerb drainage. Envirokerb has a proven track record on major developments and prestigious projects around the country and beyond. Envirokerb is also available in a shallow version which is ideal for bridge projects where the depth of installation is limited.
