ITkerb
Having established ourselves as market leaders in bridge, kerb and channel drainage systems, PDS have now applied the same innovative approach to a new solution for communications infrastructure - the ITkerb.
The ITkerb is a new approach to laying cables which eliminates the need to dig trenches and disrupt roads and pathways. The cables are run through a secure conduit within a kerb unit. The unit is lightweight, making it quick and easy to install. It's also highly durable - so durable that we offer a 50 year guarantee on the range. And because ITkerb is made from 100% recycled plastic, it's also the greenest solution on the market.
Features and Benefits
Innovative Design
The ITkerb is an entirely new approach to cabling infrastructure which offers massive possibilities in cost-saving and increased efficiency to your project.
The unit makes it possible to bring cabling right to the customer's door with easy to install connections and little disruption to the road or pathways.
The ITkerb unit is also available with drainage slots for a complete infrastructure and drainage solution. This version of ITkerb shares the multiple benefits of our Envirokerb drainage product range.
Lightweight
ITkerb is made from fully recycled plastic, reducing the unit weight by up to 70% compared to traditional concrete kerb units, The ITkerb falls well within the 25kg limit for manual handling, eliminating the need for on-site machinery for installation.
Health and Safety
The lighter weight of ITkerb means fewer workplace injuries - and subsequently fewer lost workdays or costly compensation claims.
Cutting the recycled plastic material has fewer of the risks normally associated with cutting concrete units, such as harmful dust, noise and vibration.
Precision Manufactured
ITkerb is manufactured to a high aesthetic finish, making it almost indistinguishable from concrete units, and is available in a range of widths and depths to meet project requirements.
Durability
ITkerb is tested to Group D400 loading class and exceeds the strength required for kerbside systems under European law (Group C250).
The ITkerb unit is highly resistant to side impact, the main cause of failure in many kerbside type installations. Independent tests show that the recycled plastic material is up to 30 times stronger than equivalent concrete products, making it almost unbreakable during on-site handling and installation. In fact we're so confident of the unit's durability, ITkerb comes with a 50 year guarantee against breakage.
Quality Assurance
ITkerb is fully compliant to the European EN1433 specification for drainage channels with vehicular and pedestrian access. PDS have full ISO9001 Accreditation (Management Systems). In addition and essential for full compliance to the EN1433 standard, our manufacturing facilities have full ISO 9000 series Accreditation and Quality Assurance. The Envirokerb range and PDS are now compliant to ISO14001.
Green Benefits
ITkerb is made entirely from recycled materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill within the UK and China. The environmental benefits of Envirokerb continue right through its lifetime in use. If no longer required on site, the Envirokerb can be reused elsewhere, or recycled - unlike traditional products.
