PDS PLC have built up a number of close relationships with large contractors who use our Design department to "Value Engineer" schemes to obtain the most cost effective and beneficial solution to their surface water problems. We enjoy a "partnership" arrangement with these contractors and they allow us to offer our Unique products to their clients.

As part of a refurbishment scheme to this graceful structure in Inverness we have just supplied our Envirokerb shallow bridge drainage system to the Bonar Bridge.
Our Envirokerb shallow unit is aimed at projects where the anticipated flows are lower and they are a highly cost effective alternative to the metallic units which were originally specified on this scheme.
Almost 500No units have being installed to both kerblines and at only 10Kg each manual handling risks were drastically reduced for the installers.
Being recycled composite and with an appearance almost identical to concrete the grey kerb line is retained and there are no on-going coating maintenance issues.

Dew Construction one of our major and most valued clients have just completed the M50 Queenhill Viaduct for the Highways Agency.
The site installed over 1500No Envirodeck units on the project and the finished job as usual is another example of the quality of the Envirodeck product.
The Envirodeck units are lightweight so they are easier and faster to install.
We are told that on this scheme the kerb layer installed 700No in one afternoon.
The grey finish to the units provide a highly visible kerbline and as they are composite they require no on going coating maintenance.
On Queenhill there was an issue with the existing outlet positions - The composite material of the Envirodeck units meant Dews were able to simply core through the units and attach the outlets in the exact positions on site.
The finished job as the attached pictures show is another high quality installation from the team at Dews.

PDS are delighted to be involved in the replacement of the A34 Wolvercote viaduct.
After having assisted the design team (Costain/Jacobs) on the drainage requirements for over 18 months Envirodeck units are being placed on the first section of the new viaduct.
Our Dri-deck system is also being used on the bridge to provide additional and back up sub surface drainage.
The viaduct which was built in the early 1960s is being replaced due to salt laden water penetration damage and instead of continual repair work it was concluded it would be better value for money to replace the entire structure.

Burn Closes Bridge in Wallsend has recently being replaced.
The Bridge was constructed in 1912/13 but had reached the end of its useful life. Its load carrying capacity has been reduced over recent years and it had reached the point where it could only just about support its own weight.
North Tyneside Council decided that the only sensible thing to do was to demolish and replace it.
Balfour Beatty started site clearance April 2008, demolition of old bridge commenced on the 17th June 2008.
They have now constructed a new structure for North Tyneside Council.
PDS worked with Atkins at design stage to look at the drainage requirement on the deck and Envirodeck was chosen as the drainage system to the new structure.

The new crossing at Kincardine is now complete. PDS after having a major input into the drainage design supplied over 5000 No Envirodeck units to this new impressive structure.
PDS visited the site in July to have a look at this very prestigious project. Chris Rothery, Managing Director said; "We worked hard on this contract and had a big input into the drainage design, working closely with the designers and the contractor. It is a fantastic project and we are proud that our new Envirodeck was Selected for the crossing over traditional systems."
"When you see the units being installed the health and safety benefits are clear over our older metallic products and from a visual point of view the quality of the system is obvious. We are now receiving enquiries for our Envirodeck product for Europe and we will be pushing to develop the overseas market".

One of these contractors is ALFRED MCALPINE (CARILLION) who have recently incorporated our products on some Award Winning schemes. The Envirokerb Recycled Kerb Drainage has been re-designed into Leeds Inner Ring Road, M60 Manchester Widening, A30 Bodmin Scheme, the A1 Scotch Corner contract and the on-going M4 Widening at Cardiff. The Leeds Inner Ring Road also incorporates the Envirokerb Bridge Drainage system, whilst the M4, M60 and A30 contracts used the more traditional Ductile Iron Hydrodeck products.
Both parties have BENEFITTED greatly from these arrangements by improving on design, saving on installation time, improving Environmental impact and of course a cost saving has to be made to make it a worthwhile partnership.

Birse Civils have also had a great relationship with PDS PLC and have utilized a number of our products on schemes around the UK. The Hydrodeck has become the Number 1 Bridge Drainage product used by Birse CL. This was achieved by offering a free of charge design service which has allowed the most cost-effective size of units to be supplied.
The Envirokerb road drainage has recently become a product that Birse actively promote onto contracts around the North West and North East. We have supplied schemes such as Salford Sports Academy Access road, A631 Bawtry Road Rotherham, Sunderland Radial Route and also Darlington Eastern Corridor. The site-based personnel understand the savings to be made by utilizing the Envirokerb with its strong robust nature, and the increased speed of installation due to weight. The procurement staff appreciates these thoughts when offering our products to site.

Whilst PDS have never actually had any orders from Johnny, we have benefited greatly from our relationship with him. Johnny has been the sub-contract Kerb Installer on a large number of schemes where our products have been used. He has installed Envirokerb Road Drainage, Envirokerb Bridge Drainage, Envirokerb 5x10 standard kerbs and also Hydrodeck Bridge Drainage. Johnny and his men have worked on the A1 Scotch Corner, A1 Peterborough to Blyth, Leeds Inner Relief Road, and the A52 Bardilles Roundabout.
We have had great feedback from himself and his staff which has helped us to design and launch the newer products within our range. He has been kind enough to offer the following testimonial for our product range, please click here to view it.
PDS is one of the UK's leading bridge, kerb and channel drainage specialists. We have designed drainage systems and supplied drainage products for dozens of high profile projects in the UK and beyond.
